Cave paintings.
This cave's inhabitants gave it a double use: home and burial place.
This cave, declared a National Monument in 1924, houses cave paintings dated between 28,000 and 8,000 BC. They represent animals, largely goats, horses, pigs and cattle. The most important paintings in the cave are the ones called “The Pregnant Mare” and “The Fish”. The people who lived here were hunter-gatherers of the Palaeolithic period who used Musterian-type tools and also used the cave as a burial place.
