In the Tierra de Campos region of Palencia is Paredes de Nava, a historic town famous for its illustrious sons, among them the poet Jorge Manrique (15th century) and the artists Alonso and Pedro Berruguete (15th and 16th centuries).
One of the gems hidden in its historic quarter is the church of Santa Eulalia and its Parish Museum, both declared to be Historic-Artistic Heritage in 1981.
The church, which looks on to Plaza de España, was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, hence the fusion of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance styles.
On the outside, the building is remarkable for the peculiarity of its Romanesque tower, crowned with a pyramidal spire covered in tiles. On the inside, meanwhile, it is worth mentioning the High Reredos, the work of Pedro Berruguete.
The Santa Eulalia Parish Museum, housed inside the ecclesiastical buildings, is considered to be one of the most important in Castilla y León. Its halls contain a valuable collection of paintings and sculpture by Castilian artists from the 15th to the 17th centuries, as well as several works from the Spanish-Flemish school and various pieces of precious metalwork.
