Cloister in the Cathedral
Situated at the confluence of the rivers Valira and Segre and overlooked to the southeast by the spectacular Sierra de Cadí mountains, La Seu d’Urgell is the most important city in the northern part of the province of Lleida.

Its most interesting historic site is the Cathedral, a beautiful example of the Italian-influenced Romanesque style of Catalonia in the 11th and 12th centuries. Also outstanding are the Romanesque church of Sant Miquel, from the 11th century, and the Sagrada Familia, the City Hall, from the 15th century, and a Diocesan Museum, which contains exceptional examples of medieval painting and sculpture. Standing in the historic quarter, formed by beautiful arcaded streets and old mansions, is the convent of Sant Domingo, which has been converted into a Parador de Turismo hotel.
