General Information
The Alhambra with the Sierra Nevada mountains behind
At the foot of Sierra Nevada, between the Darro and Genil rivers, lies one of the most interesting cities in eastern Andalusia. An impressive Andalusian legacy meets architectural gems from the Renaissance and the most modern facilities, typical of the 21st century.

Because it was the last city reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492, Granada has an unmistakable Arab flavour. Its cuisine, crafts and urban layout are a consequence of the city's glorious history. Fountains, viewpoints and Cármenes, the villas surrounded by gardens typical of the city, add to Granada's unforgettable charm. Not in vain was one of its oldest districts, the Albaicín, declared a World Heritage Site, together with the Alhambra and the Generalife. An important cultural centre for centuries, both during Muslim and Christian rule, nowadays the city boasts an enviable calendar of cultural and leisure events. Music, cinema and theatre seasons and festivals are listed, along with permanent and temporary exhibitions ranging over all fields of knowledge. Old Renaissance palaces are home to seminars, conferences and debates, while the most innovative infrastructures are ready for the bigger events.

Santa Ana Square

Granada has a vast network of accommodation, including historic buildings, such as the old convent of Santa Paula (AC Hotel) and the convent of San Francisco (Parador de Turismo located inside the Alhambra), "cármenes" (traditional villas with gardens) in the Albaicín, and cave houses in Sacromonte.

Because of its great communications, its marvellous climate, its beaches, and its snowy mountains, Granada is a unique destination for cultural, adventure and business travel.

Art and Culture
The last Arab Kingdom in the Peninsula
The last kingdom to be reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs has an incredible artistic and historic heritage. Moorish and Christian elements go hand in hand in the streets of Granada. The palace complexes of the Alhambra and Generalife, beside the Albaicin, have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The Gran Vía de Colón and the Avenida de los Reyes Católicos will lead the visitor to Renaissance monuments and to the most important districts.
Children
Granada, a city children love
In addition to the wide range of activities available on the beaches of Costa Tropical, in the Sierra Nevada National Park (together with the Padrollano winter sports resort), and in the Sierra de Huétor National Park, children will also love to visit the city of Granada.
Congresses and Business
A service city with excellent facilities
Granada is part of the European Federation of Convention Cities, a reason why it has numerous exhibition halls and conference rooms, as well as a wide selection of hotels. Each year Granada attracts a large number of trade fairs, symposiums and international conferences, lured by the city's artistic and historic heritage, its rich cultural agenda, and its good connections to the rest of the country by air, railway or road.

Shopping
Calderería Nueva street
Ceramics, silver and inlaid woodwork are just some of the most famous craft products from Granada. There is a wide range of shops in the streets of Granada, from workshops, franchises, traditional and prestigious shops to shopping centres and street markets, giving the visitor numerous different alternatives for a day's shopping.
Sport and Nature
Between Sierra Nevada and the Costa Tropical
Granada's excellent location and its mild climate make it possible to practice sports on pitches, tracks or courts as well as those in contact with nature. The Municipal Sports Centre has facilities for playing basketball, handball, table tennis, volleyball, indoor football, martial arts and more. Granada's interest in sporting activities culminates in the holding of the Gran Premio de Fondo, long-distance races that take place in different places throughout the province.
Youth
A calendar full of festivals and more festivals
Granada has a large student community, and, for this reason, the city hosts a wide variety of leisure activities for young people. The calendars of cinemas, theatres, auditoriums and exhibition halls fill up with the many festivals that have chosen Granada to host their events.
