    Historical Botanical Garden of La Concepción, Malaga

    A garden with more than 150 years of history in which you will discover a large number of species from subtropical climates, this being one of the few gardens in Europe where you can enjoy this type of vegetation. This enclosure has more than 50,000 plants, among which palm trees, bamboo and aquatic plants stand out. You can also enjoy taking a stroll around the “historic garden”, which is the oldest part of the garden, where you will find the largest specimens.

    This garden is located in Alcalá de los Gazules, Cadiz, in the heart of the Alcornocales Natural Reserve, where you can enjoy a representation of the reserve's flora. Here, the harmony between water and nature stands out above all, since most of the species in this garden need high humidity conditions to survive. One of the most important plants is the “ojaranzo”, a shrub species with striking flowers and a witness to other times since it dates back to the Paleogene. In addition, there are more than 180 protected species that are being worked on to prevent their disappearance.

In addition, perhaps the most interesting place is the greenhouse, where there is a sample of endemic plants from the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Andalusia. In this garden there is also a very special place, a tactile-olfactory area to get to know the plants through other senses apart from sight.
